Fan favorite will make his first appearance in Cary in October

John Daly, one of the biggest names in professional golf, has committed to play in the 2017 SAS Championship. The event, held annually at Prestonwood Country Club in Cary, NC, takes place October 13 - 15.

The commitment will mark Daly's first appearance at the SAS Championship since joining the PGA Tour Champions in 2016. He currently sits 14th on the Charles Schwab Cup money list with $619,266 in earnings. Daly's season in 2017 is highlighted by a victory, his first on the PGA Tour Champions, at the Insperity Invitational in May. He also finished T3 at the Dick's Sporting Goods Open this past week.

"Having John Daly as part of the SAS Championship is exciting for our fans, who will get to see him up close at Prestonwood," Tournament Director Jeff Kleiber said. "He is one of the most well-known golfers in the world, and we are eager to add him to an already elite field of golfers."

Daly is a two-time Major Champion, winning both the 1991 PGA Championship and the 1995 Open Championship. He was named PGA Tour Rookie of the Year in 1991, as well as PGA Tour Comeback Player of the Year in 2004.

Known primarily for his long drives on the golf course, Daly was the first professional golfer to average over 300 yards off the tee in a season. He currently leads the PGA Tour Champions in driving distance at 299.99 yards per drive.

Tickets to see John Daly at the SAS Championship, including access to the all-inclusive Mellow Mushroom Chill Club on the 17th Green, are available at www.SASChampionship.com.
